Webasto is presenting new climate comfort concepts at the Agritechnica trade show – which takes place from November 12 to 18, 2017 – at booth D52 in hall 17. The all-new HVAC SP40 revolutionizes the design of air conditioning systems for agricultural and construction vehicle cabins. Due to the extremely slim design, measuring only 631 x 507 x 40 millimeters, roof shapes for cabins can be developed in future which offer far more headroom and a wider field of view – without having to compromise on comfort. A redesigned air management system and innovative evaporator technology are responsible for the ultra-flat design of the HVAC SP40. Webasto, as an experienced development partner for fuel-powered heating, is also presenting an immediate heating solution at the show. In future, this will enable heat to be delivered directly after starting the engine, without the need for preheated cooling water.

Ultra-flat HVAC celebrates world premiere
The HVAC SP40 will completely change the design of agricultural and construction vehicle cabins. The dimensions of the concept device, which has been developed primarily for roof mounting, are 631 x 507 x 40 millimeters. With this ultra-flat design, manufacturers of agricultural and construction vehicles will in future be able to develop roof designs with much more headroom and a wider field of view, without having to compromise on the well-known Webasto climate comfort. The patented concept is based on a completely redesigned air management system and new evaporator technology that enables slimline designs. The air conditioner has a cooling capacity of 7 kW and a heating capacity of 6 kW. It delivers an air volume flow (free blowing) of up to 635 m³/h. The HVAC SP40 is designed such that complete integration into the manufacturer’s existing control and electronic infrastructure is easy and straightforward.

Instant cabin heat right from the start
Until now, the cabins of agricultural and construction vehicles have been warmed by a combination of air-conditioning and heating systems that depend on engine coolant temperature. However, this technology requires that the engine is already close to its operating temperature and is therefore able to supply warm coolant. The continuing increase in the efficiency of engines is consequently causing the heating capacity of HVAC systems to constantly decrease – and longer warm-up times are the result. Webasto has therefore developed an instant heating solution. This new concept uses compressor losses and irreversibility to deliver heat directly from the existing evaporator. Webasto is already successfully using this proven concept in transport refrigeration systems.

New heaters for off-highway vehicles
In Hanover, Webasto is also presenting a further development of its Thermo Top Pro series heating solutions which have already proven themselves in practical applications. The powerful and robust water heaters are available in the Thermo Top Pro 120 and Thermo Top Pro 150 models with a heating capacity from 12 to 15 kW. Their easy installation, intelligent diagnostics and safety system and powerful coolant pump make them ideal for use in off-highway vehicles. The heating capacity is ensured up to a height of 3,500 meters and temperatures as low as minus 40° Celsius.
